Hey Everyone,
I thought it was time to start blogging again after stopping for quite a while, except this time I am going to only talk about something I am passionate about, online marketing. As you know I have been running ReEmergence for several years now and I have learned a lot about how to market a company, both using traditional and non-traditional methods. I must tell you I find the non-traditional to be more cost effective, quicker and a heck of a lot more fun!
I am focused now on hearing what you all think about some of these methods and how they have helped you grow your business. What is working for you? What's not? Do you know how to start using some of these new methods to help you market your business online or are you completely clueless? I know, it's all so new, just within the last 10 years or so we have really seen a rise in the number of companies using these methods to promote their businesses, with great success. Think about Facebook, YouTube, Blue Coat, Packet8 and the list goes on and on. These are all lean and mean companies experiencing tremendous growth and they may have never run a commercial spot. The founders are becoming billionaires finding innovative ways to market online. Their teams are virtual and they are doing business at virtual speed. It's all pretty exciting, the possibilities for all the small business owners like me.
I read a great article online last night in Newsweek about the "Post American World" and how while we have been focused on trivial matters such as Brittney Spears or whether Lindsay Lohan is in rehab, other countries are quietly passing us by in terms of growth, industry, wealth and education. The writer called those countries the "rest" meaning the "rest of the world". It is definitely a wake up call. It is time to evaluate how we look at the world, it has certainly gotten a lot smaller all of a sudden when you can reach out and talk to someone a world away with the click of your mouse. Having a presence online and using online media is very important in this global economy.
How are you using your website to communicate with your customers? Do you stay in touch with them only using traditional methods or are you open to trying something new? If you have put too much of your budget into traditional marketing, it may be time to rethink that strategy. Just something to think about. I'd love to hear what you think.
